Weesie Pals – Customizable stuffed animals with microtia

We frequently check Ear Community‘s Facebook support group page, Microtia and Atresia Support Group, to learn about developments in hearing aid technology and treatment options for children and adults with microtia. Yesterday we saw a post from a member of the group, Erin, who has created the most adorable stuffed animals for children with microtia, called Weesie Pals. Erin’s young daughter, Elyse, was born with unilateral microtia and atresia, and Erin describes wanting “to create a custom stuffed animal for Elyse that reflected her identity and reinforced the daily wear of her hearing aid.”

Each Weesie Pal is handmade to order with one ear or both ears affected by microtia. Erin also makes soft headband hearing aids for the Weesie Pals that can be customized to match a particular type of hearing aid. Choose from a sweet little lamb, mouse, or cat with customizable ears:

Most of our young patients with microtia have never met another child with a little ear, and we love the idea of providing a cuddly companion that also has a special ear or ears. Visit the Weesie Pals Facebook page to learn more, get in touch with Erin, and place an order. Now for the hard part-making a decision about which Weesie Pal to order for the office!
